The Tour de France is the most prestigious bicycle race on the planet. In this year, it has just opened in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

There are two hundreds top riders from around the world that contended in individual time trials of 8.9 kms in Saturday's preliminary event.

The competition will be held in 21 stages. Starting with Sunday's 1st stage, riders in 22 teams are going to set off on a three week tour covering a 3,600 kms route. The route through rugged roads in the Alps.

Beginning from Rotterdam and passing through Belgium, top riders will have reached the finish line on the next July 25th on the Champs Elysees in Paris.

Cyclist's Lance Armstrong from USA is attracting attention due to speculation that this race might be his final appearance. Armstrong has got 7-time winner of Tour de France.
